Ali disclosed the matter after a bilateral
meeting with Sushma Swaraj at a post-meeting press briefing at the foreign
ministry in the city on Thursday noon.
Mahmood Ali said that they had not talked about the transit. They discussed
to give travel facility over Bangladeshi land to carry 10 thousand metric
tonnes of grain to Tripura.
“Bangladesh is thinking to give the facility as reward of the help they gave
during liberation war giving shelter of the affected Bangladeshi people in
Tripura,” the minister added.
In the meeting Sushma said that internal efforts are going on in India to
reach on a consensus on the water sharing deal of Teesta River.
Besides, the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) is also being sincerely
considered by the Indian Congress, she said.
Mahmood said at the briefing, “She fixed no definite period of time on this
matter and it is hard to fix the certain timeframe for every country not for
India only.”
Foreign ministry secretary Shahidul Islam, Bangladesh high commissioner in
New Delhi Tarik Karim and other officials of the ministry also present at the
brief.
Sushma is now at Dhaka on her three-day official visit to Bangladesh.
